Society tries to say

A woman is someone pretty

A woman is someone with makeup

A woman is someone who is proper

A woman dresses nicely

A woman eats a certain way

A woman has to act like

She’s the queen of Britain

Does that mean I’m not a woman

For I don’t exactly follow these standards

I don’t always iron my clothes

Or keep my elbows off the table

I don’t sit straight every hour

Or carry a purse to school

I don’t wash my face every morning

I don’t care about colors clashing

So who defines a woman

Is it a man

Is it society

Or is it anyone

Last time I checked

And I check often

A woman is defined

As the female gender

So am I a female

Yes I am

I can carry children

And don’t have a flat chest

So what is a female

Last time I checked

Has the synonym lady

That is used quite often

So what is a lady

Is it someone who’s girly

Who’s clean like a baby

And cares how she looks

If that’s the case

And it very well is

I’m not a lady at all

And surely don’t mind

So what is a woman

Is she defined by her peers

Her society

Her male counterpart

I don’t like to say I’m a lady

Because I really aren’t

I’m a woman

A female

I don’t live like society says I should

With purses and makeup

Manners and mirrors

And living on someone’s opinion

I am who I am

And I am proud of myself

I live on my opinion

And mine alone

This is not a lady

But a female

And a woman

Who is who she is

And before you judge

Just realize

You should on the inside

Before the outside

You've lured me here with your title. Very catchy.hahaha.
And yes, I can say that most of my friends are this kind or behave as such (including myself of course, :D) So thank you for explaining this situation that were faced by some of us saying that we are not suppose to be the 'lady' that they automatically categorised every damn women they know.
